　　eg. Do you mind if I smoke? 你介意我吸煙嗎?

　　注意：

　　表 示不介意的正確回答應(yīng)是"No"或"Of course not"或"Go ahead"。婉轉(zhuǎn)的拒絕可說："Well, actually, I'd prefer you didn't/not to."如回答"Yes"則表示"是的，我介意。"中國學(xué)生應(yīng)該注意，以免引起誤會。

　　這里的do代表動(dòng)詞原形。

　　eg. - I wish we could cooperate again.

　　- So do I.

　　- 希望能再次合作。

　　- 我也這樣想。

　　- Large companies suffered a lot during the recession.

　　- So did smaller ones.

　　- 經(jīng)濟(jì)衰退時(shí)，大公司受損失不小。

　　- 小公司也一樣。

　　* have got to/ have to 必須，不得不[常用于口語]

　　eg. We've got to meet this customer's request.

　　我們必須滿足這位客戶的要求。

　　* It doesn't matter.

　　沒關(guān)系。不要緊。[別人表示道歉里可這樣應(yīng)答]

　　eg.- I'm sorry, I forgot to bring the copy of our contract.

　　- It doesn't matter.

　　- 很抱歉我忘了帶合同副本。

　　- 沒關(guān)系。

　　* Not at all.

　　一點(diǎn)也不。別客氣。

　　eg. - Do you worry about the supplies?

　　- Not at all.

　　- 你擔(dān)心供貨情況嗎?

　　- 一點(diǎn)也不擔(dān)心。

　　"Not at all."這句話還可以做為別人向自己致謝時(shí)的回答。

　　eg. - Thank you very much.

　　- Not at all.

　　- 非常感謝。

　　- 不謝，不謝。

　　* a number of 若干，許多[通常只修飾可數(shù)名詞]

　　eg. Owing to the depression, a number of workers have been fired in the past two months.

　　由于經(jīng)濟(jì)蕭條，在過去的兩個(gè)月中，許多工人被解雇了。

　　* prefer (比起……來)更喜歡……

　　eg. Some consumers prefer imported cars (to those hat are home-made)

　　(比起國產(chǎn)車來)有的消費(fèi)者更喜歡進(jìn)口車。

　　* I would rather … 我寧愿……

　　注意：

　　rather 后必須接動(dòng)詞原形。

　　eg. The delivery is late again. I'd rather not do business with them.

　　交貨又晚了。我寧愿不和他們做生意了。

　　* would rather…than… 寧肯……也不……

　　eg. We would rather cut down the price than keep a large quantity of goods in stock.

　　我們寧肯降低價(jià)格，也不愿積壓大量貨物。
