How to Make Osmanthus Sugar

Osmanthus sugar is a traditional Chinese candy made from osmanthus flowers and sugar. It has a unique floral fragrance and is a popular treat during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Here is a simple recipe for making osmanthus sugar at home.

Ingredients:

- 500g granulated sugar

- 100g dried osmanthus flowers

- 1 cup water

Instructions:

1. In a large pan, add the water and sugar and heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

2. Add the osmanthus flowers to the pan and stir well.

3. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil.

4. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. After 30 minutes, turn off the heat and let the mixture cool for 5-10 minutes.

6. Use a strainer to remove the osmanthus flowers from the mixture.

7. Pour the osmanthus sugar mixture into a mold or a plate lined with parchment paper.

8. Let the mixture cool completely and harden for several hours.

9. Once the osmanthus sugar has hardened, use a knife to cut it into small pieces.

Osmanthus sugar can be stored in an airtight container for up to a month. Enjoy the sweet floral flavor of this traditional Chinese candy!
