III. much too, too much
much too意為“非常,極其,太”,much 和too都是副詞,much修飾too,用以加強語氣,中心詞是too,much too修飾形容詞或副詞原級;too much意為“太多”,中心詞是much,too修飾much,以加強語氣,too much 修飾不可數(shù)名詞,與too many 相對,too many修飾可數(shù)名詞。
There’s too much rain in summer. 夏天雨水實在太多了。
The car is much too expensive. 這輛小轎車實在太貴了。

too 一般用于肯定句,常放在句尾;also常放在be動詞或助動詞之后,行為動詞之前;either用于否定句,常放在句尾。
He likes English, too. 他也喜歡英語。
I can also swim. 我也會游泳。

V. too, enough, so
too意為“太,很”,用于“too…to…”結(jié)構(gòu),表示否定意義“太……而不能……”;enough意為“足夠”,用于“形容詞/副詞原級+enough to…”結(jié)構(gòu),表示“足夠……能……”;so意為“如此”,用于“so…that…”結(jié)構(gòu),表示“如此……以至于……”。

already常用于肯定句子;yet常用于否定句和疑問句句尾。

VII.ago, before
ago表示以現(xiàn)在為起點的“以前”,和表示時間概念的詞組搭配使用,常在一般過去時的句子中修飾動詞。
before 是指以過去或?qū)淼哪骋粫r刻為基準的“以前”,也可泛指以前,常用于現(xiàn)在完成時、過去完成時和一般過去時的句子里。
The meeting began five minutes ago. 會議五分鐘前開始了。
I have never been to Suzhou before. 我以前從未去過蘇州。
