�、�. at “靠近”往往動(dòng)作聯(lián)系，意味著有目的、有意識的靠近，而by, beside, near只意味著就“靠近”而言。如：

　�、� He sat at the desk. He wanted to read, 他坐到桌邊，想看書。

　�、�. beside “在……旁邊”;by = just at the side of “就在旁邊”。兩者一般可通用。但by 比beside語勢較強(qiáng)些，并多用于日常用語中。如：

　�、� There is a hospital beside / by the river. 河邊有一家醫(yī)院。

　　[注]：指“在某人身邊”時(shí)，常多用beside. Eg:

　�、� The little boy is standing beside his mother.

　�、�. near “在……附近”或“離……不遠(yuǎn)”，它表示的距離要比by / beside 來得遠(yuǎn)些。如：

　　① We live near the sea.我們住在海邊。(表離海邊有些距離)

　�、� We live by / beside the sea.我們就住在海邊。(表海就在身邊)。
