2017考研英語語法小講：破折號(hào)用法解密

　　一、解釋說明

　　例句：Donovan believed in using whatever tools came to hand in the "great game" of espionage --spying as a profession.

　　譯文：Donovan認(rèn)為一切手段都可以應(yīng)用于"espionage"這一偉大事業(yè)--職業(yè)間諜。

　　解析：很多人不認(rèn)識(shí)"espionage"這個(gè)單詞的意思，通過破折號(hào)引出的解釋說明部分，不難理解它的意思是"間諜"。

　　例句：How lucky the girls nowadays are!--they can go anywhere,say anything.

　　譯文：今天的女孩子多幸福啊!她們哪兒都能去，什么話都能說。

　　二、概括總結(jié)

　　例句：New houses，larger schools，more sheep，more pigs and chickens，more horse and donkeys--everywhere we saw signs of the commune's prosperity.

　　譯文：新房子，擴(kuò)建的學(xué)校，更多的豬、羊、雞、馬和驢，到處可以看到公社的繁榮景象。

　　例句：He is modest，considerate，warm-hearted--he is a good man.

　　譯文：他謙遜、體諒他人、熱心--總之是個(gè)不錯(cuò)的人。

　　二、引出插入語

　　例句：I believed she was wise--well，she was I suppose--in a way.

　　譯文：我相信她有幾分聰明--噢，我料想她如此。

　　解析："well，she was I suppose"是典型的插入語，去掉之后并不影響句子完整。

　　例句：She was seventeen then--a beautiful young creature.

　　譯文：她那時(shí)17歲--是一個(gè)年輕漂亮的姑娘。

　　四、表轉(zhuǎn)折或中斷

　　例句：I assure you that--but you wouldn't understand.

　　譯文：我向你保證--可你不會(huì)理解的。

　　解析：破折號(hào)在此表示轉(zhuǎn)折。

　　例句：During my vacation--I must have been insane--I decided I would ski.

　　譯文：假期中--我準(zhǔn)是發(fā)瘋了--我決定去滑雪。

　　解析："I must have been insane"是感嘆，是與原句意思完全無關(guān)的插入成分，破這號(hào)在此起到中斷作用。

　　五、代替括號(hào)

　　例句：Mary comes every week--on Tuesdays--to help with the laundry.

　　譯文：瑪利每周(周二)都來幫忙洗衣服。

　　例句：Two of the strongest animals in the jungle--the elephant and gorilla--are vegetarians.

　　譯文：森林里的兩種最大的動(dòng)物(大象和大猩猩)都是素食動(dòng)物。

　　例句：The materials used--copper，stainless steel，concrete and glass--give the buildings a striking beauty.

　　譯文：這些使用的材料(銅、不銹鋼、混凝土和玻璃等)使這些建筑更具非凡魅力。

　　六、表示省略

　　例句："But--"she stopped short.

　　譯文："可是--"她突然停住了。

　　七、補(bǔ)充說明

　　例句：We'll be arriving on Monday morning--at least，I think so.

　　譯文：我們將在星期一上午抵達(dá)--至少我是這樣想的。
