  Today, a high parallelism between disparate countries has been a heated social issue in debate. In my view, globalization plays a significant role, which brings more advantages than disadvantages. Firstly, the root cause of this trend is the deep globalization. Specifically, in an age of thriving international business and travelling, all countries and regions, especially the ones that are pivots of transportation, are required to rebuild their infrastructures, for the purpose of reaching so-called global standards. For example, in anywhere worldwide, hotels are designed as western-style skyscrapers; the construction of railway stations and airports always follows the international norms; information on products, indicators, billboards and even food menus are translated into English, the universally global language. Besides, the form of a global pop culture also contributes much to the trend of similarity. For example, with exposure to the advertisements of multi-national companies, young people in Shanghai, Tokyo, or New York have the similar tastes in international famous brands, such as wearing clothes of Nike, and playing iPhone of Apple. Such globally common preference also makes people in different regions look the same. I strongly believe this trend is beneficial for both local and international people. For one thing, a foreign tourist who is completely strange to the local society can easily find the hotel, restaurant, hospital, police station and even bus routes by the cross-country uniform language, symbols and appearances of buildings. By this way, the trip would be safer, more comfortable and pleasing. For another, this trend also improves living conditions of local residents. For example, under the demands of global standards, an undeveloped or remote area would receive the investment from the government for the modernization of its traffic, airline, postal, health care, and telecommunication systems, all of which can fulfill the update of daily life of locals. However, there is always a big concern with this trend. Obviously, the high-level similarity means the decrease of cultural gap between countries, thus leading to the elimination of the national identity. For example, when English, famous-brand fashions, McDonalds and rock music are overwhelming in streets of a country, its indigenous language, traditional clothes, local cuisine and folk music will lose the space for survival. In conclusion, there are two main reasons for the phenomenon of cross-border resemblance, international travelling and the popularity of global culture respectively. What’s more, according to the analysis above, the relevant merits indeed outweigh the demerits.(400字)
