　　Border Town is the masterpiece of Shen Congwen. It ranked No. 2 of the Top 100 Chinese novels of the 20th century. It depicts the unique customs of the Chadong, a Sichuan-Hunan border village, during the 1930s.The novel's beautiful writing style of both lyric poetry and essay portrays the local traditions and customs of the Xiangxi region.
