　　This dictionary is the first type that was edited by hundreds of experts and scholars and with nearly three years of hard work, the release conferences were hosted in both Beijing and Taipei on February 8, 2012. The dictionary contains a total of more than 7,000 words and nearly 35,000 phrases. The dictionary is of important and far-reaching significance to eliminating the differences in the style, pronunciation and meaning of the languages between Taiwan and Mainland China and promoting cross-straits common terms' unified uses, facilitating communication and the use of language of compatriots on both sides, further promoting cross-straits economic and cultural exchanges, and jointly inheriting and sustaining the Chinese culture.
