　　The Old Book of Tang is a biographic history of dynasties. As one of the 24 histories, it was compiled by Liu Xu, et.al. in the second year of Kaiyun, Emperor Chudi of the Later Jin Dynasty (945); Originally known as the Book of Tang, it was later renamed the Old Book of Tang in order to make a difference from the New Book of Tang authored by OuYang Xiu. Consisting of 50 volumes of biographic sketches of emperors and 149 volumes of collected biographies, it recorded the history from the first year of Wude, Emperor Gaozu of Tang (Li Yuan) (618) to the fourth year of Emperor Aidi of Tang (Li Zhu) (907). Featured by detailed historical records and rich historical references reserved, it is valued by posterity.
