　　The Shiwu School was a new school initially built by reformists during the Hundred Days’ Reform of the late Qing Dynasty. It was established in Changsha in January 1897 with the approval of Chen Baozhen, Governor of Hunan. After the Hundred Days’ Reform failed, the school was renamed the "Qiushi School" and then the "Hunan Provincial School." In 1903, the Hunan Provincial School was combined with the Yuelu Academy to form the Hunan High-Rank School, which was later renamed Hunan University in 1926.
