　　Imperial University of Peking was the name of Peking University between 1898 and 1911 in the late Qing Dynasty. As one of the "new policies" of the Hundred Days’ Reform (1898), it was the first national university in modern China and marked the start of higher education in modern China. As the top institution of higher learning, it first served as the top educational administrative authority to exercise the functions of the Ministry of Education and administer national educational affairs.
