　　The Eight Immortals Cross the Sea is one of the folk legends most broadly popular among the Han people. This story was told first in a version of Yuan poetic drama—Zhengyuban: The Eight Immortals Cross the Sea. Legend has it that the senior immortal, White Cloud, invited eight immortals and five sages to a party in Penglai and on the way to return, Tie Guaili suggested not to ride the boat but each should rely on his or her own means. This is where the proverb "the eight immortals cross the sea and each demonstrated their special expertise" originated from. Afterwards, this allusion was used to figuratively express the examples concerning the miracles created by means of the own ability. And the eight immortals are respectively: Han Zhongli, Zhang Guolao, Han Xiangzi, Tie Guaili, Lv Dongbin, He Xiangu, Lan Caihe and Cao Guojiu.
