　　Southern Min Chinese (language) originated in the Luoshui Basin of the Yellow River, and was adopted in southern Fujian during the West Jin, Tang, and Northern Song Dynasties with Quanzhou of Fujian Province as its center. Besides the primary usage areas of Fujian and Taiwan, it is widely spoken throughout Northeast Min, Southeast Zhejiang, Chaoshan, Shanwei, Leizhou Peninsula of Guangdong Province, Hainan Island, and numerous Chinese communities spread across Southeast Asia.
