　　During the reign of Daoguang and Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty, music from Zhihua Temple spread to nearby districts in Beijing, and soon became representative of Buddhist music in the North. It soon became known as‘Jing music’. Jing music from Zhihua Temple combines an august and classically elegant style, standardized structures, various performance techniques, and an enormous repertoire. Having been in existence for over 570 years, it is honoured as a living fossil of ancient Han music. Jing music of Zhihua Temple was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006.
