　　中岳嵩山由太室山(海撥1494米)和少室山(海撥1512米)等組成。地處古都汴、洛之間，自古為文人薈萃之地，擁有大量名勝古跡，如始建于北魏的少林寺，規(guī)模宏大的中岳廟，我國四大書院之一的嵩陽書院和院內的兩株“將軍柏”，以及我國現存最古的嵩岳寺塔，太室，少室、啟母三漢闕和古天文觀測臺等。2007年8月17日，嵩山少林風景區(qū)入選首批國家5A級景區(qū)。

　　The Central Mountain, the Songshan Mountain is composed of the Taishi Mountain (at an altitude of 1,494 meters) and Shaoshi Mountain (at an altitude of 1,512 meters). Located between the ancient capitals of Bianliang and Luoyang, it has long been the gathering place for a constellation of scholars and boasts a large number of places of interest including; the Shaolin Temple first built in the Northern Wei Dynasty, the magnificent Zhongyue Temple, Songyang Academy (one of the four major academies in China) and the two “General cedars” in the academy, as well as the pagoda and three Han palaces including Taishi , Shaoshi and Qimu, the most ancient surviving buildings, as well as the ancient astronomical observatory. In 2007, the Songshan Shaolin Scenic Spot was listed among the first batch of the national 5A-class tourist attractions.
