　　A saying goes that necessity is the mother of invention and I cannot agree more. Every significant invention in the world, from the ancient time to the modern period, is the result of needs. The reasons why I say so are as follows.

　　First and foremost, needs are the primary impetus behind any invention. For example, paper, one of the four great inventions of ancient China, was invented to meet the growing demands of materials for writing upon. Besides, the inventions that satisfy people's needs are full of vitality. Being created for fun, an invention may cause novelty and curiosity for a period, but it cannot last long and people will forget it soon. What's more, needs get inventions constantly improved and upgraded. We can learn it from the evolution of cell phones and computers, both of which are ceaselessly upgraded with the development of modern society.
