abandon 拋棄，離棄。一般指完全和永久地舍棄某人或某物�？捎糜诎�義，也可以用于貶義。書面語用的多。

　　The sailors abandoned the burning ship.船員們放棄了著火的船。

　　desert遺棄，離棄。指某人或某物無人問津，或在困難時(shí)或困境中被人背棄。多用于貶義，有時(shí)可引申為“失去”的意思。

　　All his friends have deserter him when he is in difficulties.在他困難的時(shí)候，他所有的朋友都背棄了他。

　　leave 舍棄，遺棄。一般用于，著重“離開”“遺留下”的意思。

　　常見用法：…sb./sth; | …sb./sth. to sb.; | …sb./sth. with sb.;| …sth. for sth.

　　常用短語：be left with 給留下，被剩下。| leave alone 不管。| leave aside 擱置 | leave behind 留下，遺忘。

　　ability n. 能力，才能。主要指體力或智力上的某種能力，或是先天的，或是后天習(xí)得的。常用短語：to the best of one’s ability 盡力地

　　they believed in man’s ability to master the world.他們相信人有駕馭世界的能力。

　　capability n. 能力。指人具有進(jìn)行某種專門工作、完成某項(xiàng)任務(wù)必需的技能、智力、才能。有時(shí)可以與ability通用，不過capability側(cè)重天生的能力，而ability則側(cè)重后天習(xí)得的能力。

　　常見用法：capability of 后接主動(dòng)意義的動(dòng)作，capability for后接被動(dòng)意義的動(dòng)作。

　　The doctor tested the capability of his ears to distinguish pitches. 醫(yī)生檢查了他鑒別音高的能力。

　　capacity n. 能力，容量。既可以用于人也可以用于物。用于人指接受、吸收、掌握、理解的能力;用于物則指容量、容納能力。

　　He has a capacity for mathematics. 他有學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)的能力。
