　　1.knock n.一擊，敲門(聲)v.打，擊，敲;相撞

　　【例】knock down The motorist had to swerve toavoid knocking the old woman down in the middle ofthe road.

　　司機不得不突然轉(zhuǎn)彎以避免撞到路中間的老婦人。(2000)

　　【用】knock的搭配比較多，需要重點記憶一下：knockdown意為“擊倒，撞倒，擊落;降低(價格等)”;knock off意為“把…敲掉，擊倒;停止工作”;knock out意為“敲空：擊倒，打昏”，

　　2.quality n.質(zhì)量，品級，品質(zhì);性質(zhì)，特性

　　【例】The quality of service in the shop has improved greatly.

　　這家商店的服務質(zhì)量大大提高了。

　　【派】qualitative(adj.質(zhì)量上的，性質(zhì)上的;(化學)定性的]

　　【辨】quality，quantity二者形似，但意義不同。quality表示“質(zhì)量”;quantity表示“數(shù)量”，兩個詞常對應使用。

　　3.bewilder vt.迷惑，把…弄糊涂

　　【記】聯(lián)想記憶：be(使)+wild(荒野的)+er--因找不到路而迷失荒野--迷惑

　　【例】I was a little bewildered by the sudden news.

　　這個突然的消息讓我感到有點迷惑。

　　【辨】bewilder, puzzle, bewilder是指腦子有些糊涂，所以迷惑;puzzle是指被難住，很迷惑，注意二者的區(qū)別。

　　4.warrant n.授權(quán)(證);逮捕狀;正當理由 vt.證明(某事物)正當、有理或恰當

　　【例】An Indian court issues an arrest warrant for Richard Gere for publicly kissing actressShilpa Shetty.

　　某印度法院因理查德?吉爾公開親吻女影星希爾帕?謝蒂而對其下達逮捕令。

　　Adolph has done nothing to warrant the criminal prosecution.

　　阿道夫沒有做任何事來證明這起刑事起訴是正當?shù)摹?/P>

　　5.length n.長度，距離

　　【例】at length The judger spoke at length about the court ruling.

　　法官就法庭裁決作了詳盡的發(fā)言。

　　【用】at length除了有“詳盡地”的意思外，還有“最后，終于”的意思。

　　【派】lengthen(v.延長，延伸)

　　6.inspect v.檢查，審查;檢閱，視察，參觀

　　【記】詞根記憶：in(進入)+spect(看)--進去看--檢查;視察

　　【例】We heard that the top brass will come to inspect our company.

　　我們聽說那位高級官員要來視察我們公司。

　　【派】inspection(n.檢查，視察);inspector(n.檢查員，督察員)

　　7.angular adj.尖銳的，有角的，角形的;(指人)瘦骨嶙峋的

　　【例】Here, everything is composed of sharp and angular surfaces.

　　這里的所有東西都是由鋒利有角的表面構(gòu)成的?

　　8.kindle v.點燃，燃起;著火，開始燃燒

　　【記】與candle(n.蠟燭)一起記

　　【例】Dry leaves kindle easily in winter.

　　冬天，干枯的樹葉很容易點燃。
