聘金(endowment)是中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)習(xí)俗的一部分。通常，新郎(bridegroom)需要給新娘家一筆錢(qián)作為聃禮來(lái)定下婚禮。但是近幾年來(lái)其標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不斷上升,致使大多數(shù)家庭都很難達(dá)到�？焖偕蠞q的生活成本是聘金增加的主要原因。對(duì)于大多數(shù)年輕人來(lái)說(shuō)，結(jié)婚意味著獨(dú)立組建家庭，然而物價(jià)的不斷上漲使這一切變得越來(lái)越困難。因此，許多新婚夫婦都只能向父母求助。

　　表達(dá)難點(diǎn)

　　1.第2句中的“作為聘禮”在漢譯英時(shí)，可以順承前面一句“聘金”而省略不譯�！皝�(lái)定下婚禮”表目的，故將其譯作狀語(yǔ) to fix a marriage。

　　2.第3句“……不斷上升，致使大多數(shù)家庭都很難達(dá)到”表因果關(guān)系，可用so...that...結(jié)構(gòu)來(lái)表達(dá)，“某人很難做某事”英語(yǔ)對(duì)應(yīng)的表達(dá)為sb. finds it difficult to do sth，此句可譯為...have become so high... that a majority of families are finding it difficult to meet them。

　　3.翻譯第4句“快速上漲的生活成本是聘金增加的主要原因”時(shí)，如果按照原主干“生活成本是主要原因譯，則不能很好表達(dá)出原句強(qiáng)調(diào)“上漲”的利害關(guān)系，故轉(zhuǎn)換結(jié)構(gòu)，用“快速上漲”作主語(yǔ)用介詞短語(yǔ)in the living cost 作定語(yǔ)。

　　4.倒數(shù)第2句中的“結(jié)婚意味著獨(dú)立組建家庭，然而物價(jià)的不斷上漲使這一切變得越來(lái)越困難”是一個(gè)表轉(zhuǎn)折的并列句。但通過(guò)分析發(fā)現(xiàn)，“這一切”指代前半句內(nèi)容，故可用which引導(dǎo)非限制性定語(yǔ)從句將前后分句聯(lián)系起來(lái)，以避免不必要的信息重復(fù)，這樣句子更加簡(jiǎn)潔緊湊�！拔飪r(jià)的不斷上漲”處理成原因狀語(yǔ)because of the constantly rising prices置后，使句子表達(dá)清晰流暢。
