英語四級翻譯中,也會出現(xiàn)一些節(jié)日及盛典等相關(guān)主題的翻譯,不過其出現(xiàn)頻率相比較文化&社會主題較低。
1、青奧會
原文:青年奧林匹克運動會是專為全世界青年人設(shè)立的綜合體育賽事。第二屆夏季青年奧林匹克運動會于2014年8月16日至28日在南京舉行。本屆青奧會的口號是“分享青春 共筑未來”;寓意全世界青年人在奧林匹克精神感召下,歡聚一堂,相互切磋,相互鼓勵,增進友誼,共同成長。吉祥物創(chuàng)意來自雨花石,意為提倡自然、運動、健康、快樂的生活方式;會徽將南京明城墻城門和江南民居輪廓組合在一起,勾勒出“NANJING”字樣,寓意青春之門。

原文:端午節(jié)(Dragon Boat Festival)是中國的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日之一,為每年農(nóng)歷五月初五。它與春節(jié)、清明節(jié)和中秋節(jié)并稱為中國漢族的四大傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日。端午節(jié)的來源有多種說法,但最被人們接受的是為了紀念著名愛國詩人屈原。這一天的習俗有吃粽子、賽龍舟、喝雄黃酒(realgar wine)等。從2008年起,端午節(jié)正式列入國家法定節(jié)日,這既有助于弘揚傳統(tǒng)文化,又能適應(yīng)人們的需要。

Dragon Boat Festival is one of Chinese traditionalfestivals. It's on the fifth day of the fifth lunarmonth. It is known as one of the four majortraditional festivals of Han Chinese together withthe Spring Festival, the Qingming Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. A number of theoriesexist about its origins, but the best accepted one is that it's for memorizing the famouspatriotic poet Qu Yuan. On this day, people have the customs of eating zongzi(rice dumpling),racing dragon boats and drinking realgar wine, etc. In 2008, it was recognized as a publicholiday in mainland China for the first time which cannot only help spread this traditionalculture but also meet the need of people.
4、中秋節(jié)
原文:農(nóng)歷八月十五日是中國的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日——中秋節(jié)。在這天,每個家庭都團聚在一起,一家人共同觀賞象征豐裕、和諧和好運的圓月。此時,大人們盡情吃著美味的月餅,品著熱騰騰的香茗,而孩子們則在一旁拉著明亮的兔子燈盡情玩耍。月宮里美麗的仙女嫦娥的神話故事賦予了這個節(jié)日神話色彩。傳說古時候,天空曾有10個太陽圍著地球旋轉(zhuǎn)。后翌射下了其中9個太陽,拯救了地球上的生靈。他偷了長生不老藥,卻被妻子嫦娥偷偷喝下,從而產(chǎn)生了嫦娥奔月的故事。

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar month. It is a time for family members to congregate and enjoy the full moon, which is a symbol of abundance, harmony and luck. Adults usually indulge in fragrant mooncakes of various kinds with a good cup of hot Chinese tea, while the children run around with their brightly-lit rabbit lanterns. The festival was endowed a mythological flavour with legends of Chang-E, the beautiful lady in the moon. According to Chinese mythology, the earth once had 10 suns circling over it. Hou Yi, shot down 9 of the suns to save all the lives on carth. He stole the elixir of life, which can make people immortal. However, his wife, Chang-E drank it. Thus the legend of Chang-E flying into the moon came into being.
5、春節(jié)
原文:春節(jié)是中國最盛大的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日,也叫“過年”。除夕夜里,全家人聚在一起吃豐盛的團圓飯,包餃子、放鞭炮、貼春聯(lián)、看春晚……迎接新的一年到來。大年初一早上,孩子們穿著新衣服,跟著父母去拜年。長輩們往往發(fā)給孩子們一些壓歲錢,祝福他們又長了一歲。春節(jié)是一個家人團聚的日子,離家在外的孩子都要回家。一家老少歡聚團圓,共享天倫之樂。

Spring Festival, also called “Celebrating Lunar New Year”, is the grandest traditional festival in China. On the eve of Spring Festival, the whole family gather together to have a wonderful family reunion dinner, making dumplings, setting off firecrackers , putting up Spring Festival couplets and watching Spring Festival Gala to celebrate the coming of the new year. On the first morning of Spring Festival, children, in their new clothes, follow their parents to pay New Year’s visits. Elders often give children some “gift money”, blessing them as they are a year older. Spring Festival is a period for family members to reunite when grown children away from home all return home. All family members, old and young, gather together to enjoy the happiness of the family reunion.
