　　The Longmen Grottoes, between the cliffs of the east and west of Longmen Canyon, began being built during the period of Emperor Xiaowen in the northern Wei Dynasty and underwent continuous, large-scale construction for 400 years. The distance between the north and the south amounts to one kilometer, and it embodies the collection of 2,345 pieces of niches, more than 100 thousand statues, as well as 2,800 inscriptions.
