The Great Wall, also known as the ten thousand-meter wall, was made of sections of earlier fortifications joined together to form a united defense system against invasions from the north. The distance between the west and east amounts to ten thousand meters. Hence it is also known as the ten-thousand-meter wall. The current ruins of the Great Wall were mainly built in the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century, which begins at Tiger Mountain in the east and ends at Jiayuguan in the west, and crosses 15 provinces or cities, such as Beijing, Tianjin, Qinghai, Shanxi Province, Inner Mongolia and others. There is a total of 43,721 heritages of the Great Wall.
