　　頤和園，位于北京市西北郊海淀區(qū)，距北京城區(qū)約15千米。始建于清代乾隆年間(1750年---1764年)。利用昆明湖、萬壽山為基址，以杭州西湖風(fēng)景為藍(lán)本，汲取江南園林的某些設(shè)計(jì)手法和意境而建成的一座大型天然山水園，也是保存得最完整的一座皇家行宮御苑，占地約290公頃。1998年11月被列入《世界遺產(chǎn)名錄》。

　　The Summer Palace, located in Haidian District, northwest Beijing, is about 15km from the city proper. It was built during the Qianlong Reign in the Qing Dynasty (1750-1764) with Kongming Lake and Wanshou Mountain as its basic layout and the West Lake landscape as its blueprint, together with some design methods and atmosphere from Jiangnan landscaped gardens. It is a masterpiece of natural gardening with mountains and water as well as the best preserved rural palace with an area of about 290 hectares. The Summer Palace was included in the World Heritage List in November 1998.
