　　As the secondary securities market only second to the main board market, the Growth Enterprise Market (hereinafter referred to as GEM) refers specially to that in Shenzhen, China. On October 23, 2009, the GEM in China held its launching ceremony, with the first 28 listed companies signing on to the GEM on October 10, 2009 at a rate of 56.7 times the average price-earnings ratio. The GEM aims at providing more convenient financing channels for small and medium-sized enterprises and creating a normal exit mechanism for venture capital.
