　　The Tang Monk Scriptures, also known as Monk Sanzang's Pilgrimage for Buddhist Scriptures During the Great Tang Dynasty, is a colloquial scripture written by an unknown author. The book has three volumes, made up of 17 sections, and narrates the story of Tang Xuanzang's pilgrimage for scriptures. In the book, Master Sun is the main character. He helps Monk Sanzang master all of his own supernatural powers. However, the plot is relatively simplified, and there is no mention of Zhu Bajie. It describes the conquering Shensha God, and is roughly a prototype for the novel, Journey to the West, from the Ming dynasty.
