　　Sima Yan, Emperor Wu of Jin (236-290), whose courtesy name was Anshi and native of Wen, Henei, was the first emperor (from 265 to 290) of the Jin Dynasty. As the grandson of Sima Yi, he inherited the title Duke of Jin from his father in 265, and deposed Cao Huan, Emperor Yuandi of Wei who was forced to abdicate the throne to him when he established the state of Jin with Luoyang as the capital. The Jin Dynasty reunified China in 279. The period of his reign (280-289) witnessed prosperity, historically known as "prosperity in Taikang". He died of illness in 290.
