　　唐高祖李淵(566-635年)，字叔德，隴西成紀(jì)人，祖籍邢州堯山，是唐朝的開國(guó)皇帝。隋末，李淵起兵，攻占長(zhǎng)安。義寧二年農(nóng)歷五月，李淵接受其所立的隋恭帝的禪讓稱帝，建立唐朝，定都長(zhǎng)安，并逐步消滅各地割據(jù)勢(shì)力，統(tǒng)一全國(guó)。貞觀九年，李淵病逝，謚號(hào)太武皇帝，廟號(hào)高祖。

　　Li Yuan, Emperor Gaozu of Tang (566-635), whose courtesy name was Shude, native of Chengji, Longxi and origin of Yaoshan, Xingzhou, was the founder of the Tang Dynasty. In the late period of the Sui Dynasty, Li Yuan rose up and occupied Chang’an. In May (lunar calendar), the second year of Emperor Yining, Li Yuan accepted the demise of Emperor Gongdi of Sui and established the Tang Dynasty with Chang’an as the capital. Afterwards, he gradually conquered the sects in all areas and reunified the whole country. He died of illness in the 9th year of Emperor Zhenguan, and was given the posthumous title "Emperor Taiwu" or Gaozu.
