　　Li Hongzhang (1823-1901), native of Hefei, Anhui Province, was a famous official in the late Qing Dynasty and one of the major leaders of the Westernization Movement. As the founder and commander of the Anhui Army and the Beiyang Fleet as well as the leader of the Westernization Movement, he was the key official in the late Qing Dynasty and served as the governor of Zhili and Beiyang official for trade relations, and was bestowed the title of Grand Secretary of the Hall of Literary Glory. He also signed historic diplomatic documents such as the Treaty of Vietnam, the Treaty of Shimonoseki and the Sino-French Brief Treaty.
