　　The cross-sea bridges in Macao include the Macao-Taipa Bridge, the Friendship Bridge, Lotus Bridge, West Bay Bridge and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The Macao-Taipa Bridge is also known as Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and was officially opened on October 5, 1974. The Friendship Bridge, formerly known as the New Macao-Taipa Bridge, was opento traffic in early 1994. The Lotus Bridge Project commenced in June 29, 1998, and the bridge was opened in March 2000. The construction of the West Bay Bridge commenced on October 8, 2002 and in early 2005 it was opento traffic. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridgehas been under construction since December 15, 2009 and it is expected to be open to traffic by the end of 2017. These cross-sea bridges not only improve the traffic within and around Macao, but also play an important role in the prosperity of the region.
