　　Xiamen is a coastal city of southeastern Fujian province. This city was developed as part of state-planning. Historically, Xiamen was a home to egrets in ancient times, and was sometimes called the “Island of Egrets”. Xiamen was one of the four first special economic zones to open up. Xiamen is a contemporary international seaport, scenic tourist destination, and international shipping hub. Richard Nixon, former president of the United States, dubbed Xiamen "Oriental Hawaii".
