　　Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, shortened as Liangshan prefecture, is the largest area in China with concentrations of the Yi ethnic group. It is situated at the juncture of Sichuan Province and Yunnan Province, specifically in the southwestern region of Sichuan Province. It was once established in October of 1952 as the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Region of Xikang Province.
