　　Yuyao bayberry, with big round fruit, bright color, succulence and fruity intense flavor, has been grown for at least 20,000 years. According to the archeological discovery at the Hemudu remains, wild bayberry was found 70,000 years ago. Thus, it enjoys the good reputation of "Yuyao bayberry, the best in the world". In 1995, Yuyao was named as the "Origin of Bayberry in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture of China. It was awarded as "Origin of Bayberry" in 2004. The Bayberry Festival falls from mid-June to early July each year in Yuyao, Zhejiang province.
