　　The giant salamander is a rare amphibious wildlife animal enjoying second-class national protection. Since it cries as a human baby does, it is also called wawayu. The giant salamander is mainly native to mountain streams of tributaries of the Yangtze River, Yellow River and Pearl River in the upper and middle reaches.
