　　As China's entrance to the innermost gulf of the Yellow sea, Bohai Strait located between the Shandong Peninsula and Liaodong Peninsula, is the dividing line between the Bohai Sea and the Huanghai Sea, and the only channel for maritime transportation. The Bohai Strait is China's important base for maritime defense with more than 10 waterways of different sizes as well as the channel of the Bohai Sea and the gateway to Beijing and Tianjin. The year 2010 saw the official launch of the Cross-sea Channel Project of the Bohai Strait, which is of great significance to the revitalization of northeastern China, and China's economic takeoff.
