　　The Nansha Islands are a major archipelago of the South China Sea Islands. Under the jurisdiction of the prefecture-level city Sansha of Hainan Province, its primary landmass are the six Nansha reefs. The primary islands are in close proximity to Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and other countries. This strategically significant waterway is an important international connection between East Asia and South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Additionally, it played an instrumental role in China’s opening-up and a buffer area for the southern Chinese frontier. It is well known for the abundance of fishing and oil resources.
