　　Qian Xuesen (1911-2009), a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, was a world-famous scientist, aerodynamicist, groundbreaker of China’s manned space program, academician of both the China Academy of Science and the China Academy of Engineering, and winner of the Legion of Merit for China’s "Star-Bombs" Undertaking. And he is honored as the "father of China’s space flight undertaking, missile development and automatized control" and the "master of rockets". Thanks to Dr. Qian’s contribution after his return to the motherland, China’s development of missiles and atomic bombs advanced at least 20 years ahead.
