　　Hemudu Culture The Hemudu Culture was an ancient and diverse neolithic culture on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It was so named after it was discovered in 1973 in Hemudu, Yutao, Zhejiang Province. It was mainly distributed on the Ningshao Plain and Zhoushan Island in the southern coast of Hangzhou Bay. According to radiocarbon dating, it ranged between 5000BC and 3300BC. As clan village ruins in the matriarchal society in the Neolithic Period, it reflects the conditions of the clans in the basin of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River about 7,000 years ago.
