　　The Xiushui Street was originated in 1980 when a group of ambitious youth started their business at Silk Eastern Road, Beijing, with very simple stalls at that time. They dealt in silk and foreign-trade apparels. Though simple and crude, the inherent charms of Xiushui Street could not be obscured. The street got its name when more and more vendors began to sell traditional Chinese silk products and crafts. Beijing Xiushui Street, together with the symbols like the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace, and the Beijing roast duck, become landmarks of Beijing in the eyes of a lot of tourists from home and abroad.
