Sciences, Technology and Innovation (STI) provide key answers to build peace and bolster sustainable development. We need more integrated science to strengthen water management, to ensure the sustainable use of the ocean, to protect ecosystems and biodiversity, to tackle climate change and disasters, to foster innovation.
科技與創(chuàng)新(STI)為建設(shè)和平和促進(jìn)可持續(xù)發(fā)展提供了重要答案。我們需要更多的綜合科學(xué)來加強(qiáng)水資源管理,確保海洋的可持續(xù)利用,保護(hù)生態(tài)系統(tǒng)和生物多樣性,應(yīng)對(duì)氣候變化和災(zāi)害,促進(jìn)創(chuàng)新。
This is why STI stand at the heart of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. UNESCO has developed a unique approach to promote global scientific cooperation while encouraging local actions, with two focuses: gender equality and Africa. In this spirit, UNESCO launched in 2017 a ground-breaking international symposium and policy forum on girls' education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), to challenge the gender inequalities in STEM.
科技與創(chuàng)新之所以處在《2030 年可持續(xù)發(fā)展議程》和《巴黎氣候變化協(xié)定》的核心位置,原因正在于此。教科文組織已經(jīng)開發(fā)出一種既促進(jìn)全球科學(xué)合作又鼓勵(lì)本土行動(dòng)的獨(dú)特方法,以性別平等和非洲為重點(diǎn)。本著這種精神,教科文組織于2017年啟動(dòng)了一個(gè)開創(chuàng)性的女童STEM(科學(xué)、技術(shù)、工程和數(shù)學(xué))教育國(guó)際研討會(huì)暨政策論壇,以挑戰(zhàn)STEM領(lǐng)域的性別不平等。
Today, the complexity of the world’s issues goes beyond the framework of a single discipline. Hence, UNESCO has made trans-disciplinarity the cornerstone of its work for sustainability; building networks with multiple stakeholders such as museums, universities, private and public actors, governments and NGOs. This year’s theme for the World Science Day for Peace and Development, Science for global understanding, encompasses UNESCO’s approach to develop scientific cooperation between and within societies, combining global sustainability and local actions and knowledge.
當(dāng)今世界各種問題的復(fù)雜性超出了單一學(xué)科的范疇。因此,教科文組織將跨學(xué)科性作為其促進(jìn)可持續(xù)發(fā)展工作的基石,并與博物館、大學(xué)、私營(yíng)和公共部門行為體、政府和非政府組織等諸多利益攸關(guān)方構(gòu)建網(wǎng)絡(luò)。今年“爭(zhēng)取和平與發(fā)展世界科學(xué)日”的主題是“科學(xué)促進(jìn)全球理解”,這一主題也體現(xiàn)了教科文組織旨在發(fā)展社會(huì)之間以及社會(huì)內(nèi)部的科學(xué)合作、將全球可持續(xù)發(fā)展與本土的知識(shí)和行動(dòng)結(jié)合起來的方法。
There is today an urgent need to promote South-South and North-South-South cooperation to foster STI for sustainable development and to encourage mutual understanding and peace. In this context, science diplomacy will be a powerful instrument for the use of science as a foundation for a culture of cooperation. Investment in science education will be equally crucial. We need to grant equal access to enrolment in sciences all persons, starting at an early age, with a strong focus on girls.
當(dāng)務(wù)之急,是推進(jìn)南南和北南南合作,提升促進(jìn)可持續(xù)發(fā)展的科技與創(chuàng)新,推動(dòng)相互了解與和平。在這種情況下,科技外交將是讓科學(xué)發(fā)揮合作文化基石作用的強(qiáng)有力手段?茖W(xué)教育投資同樣至關(guān)重要。我們需要保障所有人都有同等 的從小參與科學(xué)事業(yè)的機(jī)會(huì),尤其要關(guān)注女童的相關(guān)權(quán)益。
In this spirit, I call upon all stakeholders, well beyond scientific circles, to mobilise in order to release the full potential of sciences for development and peace.
本著這一精神,我呼吁科學(xué)界以及所有相關(guān)利益攸關(guān)方行動(dòng)起來,讓促進(jìn)發(fā)展與和平的科學(xué)發(fā)揮出全部潛能。
