It is always a pleasure to be among the best and the brightest in an atmosphere of learning. The university setting is the best incubatorthat exists for the inception and sharing of ideas. The agenda you’ve set forth here for the next two-and-a-half days is one that goes to the heart of what is exciting and important to business and industry today. I’ve been asked to share my thoughts with you today about moving from “me” thinking to “we” thinking. My view is simple: individuals add; team players multiply.

　　在學(xué)術(shù)氣氛中置身于最優(yōu)秀、最聰明的人士中間總是一件令人愉快的事。大學(xué)是思想涌現(xiàn)和交流的孵化器。你們所制定的兩天半的議程將探討的問題對今天工商業(yè)界來說是一些既令人興奮又有重要意義的核心問題。今天我應(yīng)邀向各位交流一下我對由“我”思維轉(zhuǎn)為“我們”思維的看法。我的觀點很簡單，我認(rèn)為個人做的是加法，而集體做的是乘法。

　　Tsinghua undergrads are fortunate in that more and more your university is encouraging teamwork in your case work, stimulating the transition from “me” to “we”. At Wilson, we, too, are making great strides in breaking down the psychologicaland organizational barriers that result from “me” thinking. Even though we have more yet to do, we have been reaping exciting rewards by effectively using work teams to reengineer processes to gain improvements in costs, quality and response times.

　　清華大學(xué)的學(xué)生很幸運(yùn)，因為貴校越來越提倡學(xué)生在案例學(xué)習(xí)中開展集體活動，促使“我”思維模式向“我們”思維模式的轉(zhuǎn)變。我們威爾遜公司也正在努力打破那些由“我”思維帶來的心理障礙和組織障礙。雖然我們還有許多事要做，但是由于我們在調(diào)整營運(yùn)過程中有效地發(fā)揮了團(tuán)隊的作用，我們已經(jīng)在降低生產(chǎn)成本、提高產(chǎn)品質(zhì)量、縮短反應(yīng)時間等方 面收到了令人鼓舞的成效。
