　　Since the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, the State has attached great importance to agricultural development. Especially since the nation’s implementation of the policies of Reform and Opening-up in 1979, including the policy of taking agriculture as the foundation of the national economy, China has scored great achievements in agricultural development. To cite a few examples, the total grain output grew from 304 million tons in 1978, to 492.5 million tons in 1997. Cotton output grew from 2.16 million tons in 1978, to 4.2 million tons in 1997. Sugar-cane grew from 21.11 million tons in 1978 to 78.79 million tons in 1997. Aquatic products grew from 4.66 million tons in 1978 to 35.6 million tons in 1997 China is now one of the leading producers in the world of grain, cotton, rapeseeds, sugar-yielding crops, peanuts, soybeans, tea, meat and livestock, and ranks first in total output of grain, cotton and rapeseeds.

　　參考譯文：自從1949年人民共和國成立以來，國家高度重視發(fā)展農(nóng)業(yè)。特別是自從1978年我國實行“改革開放”的各項政策以來，其中將農(nóng)業(yè)作為國民經(jīng)濟基礎(chǔ)的政策，使我國在發(fā)展農(nóng)業(yè)方面取得了巨大成就。例如，糧食總產(chǎn)量從1978年的3.04億噸，增加到1997年的4.925億噸。棉花總產(chǎn)量從1978年的216萬噸，增加到1997年的420萬噸。甘蔗從1978年的2111萬噸，增加到1997年的7879萬噸。水產(chǎn)品從1978年的466萬噸，增加到1997年的3560萬噸，等等�，F(xiàn)在，中國是世界上糧食、棉花、油菜籽、制糖作物、花生、大豆、茶葉、肉類牲畜等產(chǎn)量最多的國家之一，其中糧食、棉花、油菜籽的總產(chǎn)量在世界居第一位。
