據悉，世博園的選址，從南浦大橋到盧浦大橋，橫跨浦東與浦西，浦東的展覽館建筑面積達30萬平方公尺，可以容納兩百個國家地區(qū)參展。法國建筑設計師馬丁。羅班透露了法國設計方案的總體概念。據他介紹，橫跨浦東與浦西的世博園總面積，浦東部分為260公頃，浦西部分將近50公頃，東道主中國館設在浦東，面積達8.8萬平方公尺。
