　　The Zengmuansha, part of the Nansha Islands, is located in the South China Sea. The Chinese fleet sunk a stele into Zengmuansha in 1994, declaring its sovereignty. Zengmuansha is in close proximity to Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Singapore. As a strategic point in the safeguarding of the South China Sea and Indian Ocean passages, its sovereignty as part of the Nansha Islands is of paramount importance. The region is rich in coral, oil and gas resources, and coral-related life.
